Young Thug admitted that he has never written a lyric.
He says everything is in his head.
“I’ve never written a lyric. Ever,” he told i-D. “I really haven’t. I kind of just freestyle. I just go with it as it comes. I never really wrote anything down. I’m not patient enough to sit and write. It just takes a lot of my day.”

He says he will write them down if he’s in jail long enough.
“Only time I’ve had the time to write lyrics down is when I’ve been incarcerated,” he said. “Even if I just have to go to jail for a day or something. I don’t like writing and that’s the only way I can write; if I just got time on my hands and there’s nothing in the world I could do.”

Earlier this year, Thugger and Gunna Rappers posted bail for 30 low-level inmates who were unable to afford the costs themselves.
“This is where we are from,” Young Thug told WSB-TV2. “We just woke up and went to the jail with the lawyer and, you know, DA’s and the prosecutors […] the bonding companies and just got as many people as we can out.”
