NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neil is being criticized across Black Twitter after doing something kind – by helping out a little boy who was crying in a store, MTO News has learned.
What did Shaq do to make himself go viral? Well the NBA commentator was shopping inside a mall in Atlanta, when he saw a young boy crying.
Shaq approached the 6-year-old boy, Zion, who was crying while shopping with his mother. According to online reports, not confirmed by MTO News, the boy was upset because his father allow him to have a particular pair of sneakers.
The boy’s father was not present at the time.
The NBA legend proceeded to buy him 2 pairs of shoes, a coat, and his dad a pair of socks.
Watch:
Men across Black Twitter are criticizing Shaq, claiming that he is undermining the child’s father, and making him look bad. Here are just a taste of some of the responses:
I get the intent behind the gesture but he def just made the dad look foolish.
This is not Shaq’s place to do this
as long as he wasn’t undermining the father
Out of line
MTO News confirmed that the boy’s father is NOT upset with Shaq’s gesture. In fact, it’s the opposite. He’s gone on social media to publicly thank Shaq.
