Robert Cosby Sr., the husband of Salt Lake City Housewife Mary Cosby, took to the reunion to address the “stupid” rumors that he calls “grandfather junk.”
Early on in the series, Mary claimed that her late grandmother asked her to marry her husband so that she could inherit her church. Mary did end up marrying her step-grandfather… and people cannot get over it.

Robert started off by saying that “all of that grandfather junk” was “stupid.”
“I don’t know what they’re thinking — that we got married just for the money? [That] everything is money, money, money? And it’s not like that,” he added, “I was 22 years old when I married Mama. Whose granddaddy was I? I wasn’t even anybody’s daddy yet … I don’t like [Shah’s pejorative] all. It’s very offensive for someone to say. That’s hurtful, but I’m used to it.”
Cast member Jen Shah called Mary a “grandpa f*cker.”
Mary said the following early on in the season:
“So basically, Robert Sr. was 20 years younger than my grandmother,” she shared. “My grandmother felt like she robbed his youth and so she said, ‘If something ever happens, I want you to marry one of my girls because I know they’ll be loyal to you and treat you good like you treated me.'”
