RHOC star Emily Simpson says she was not surprised over the news that Vicki Gunvalson and Steve Lodge had broken off their engagement and split.
“At their engagement, her brother told me they were never going to get married, so hello, no I was not surprised at all!” Emily told HollywoodLife.
“I knew Steve broke up with Vicki a long time ago,” Emily said. “If anybody was paying attention, there were no photos of the two of them on her Instagram for months.”
Some fans believe the couple got engaged to give Vicki a storyline for the show. Vicki appeared to confirm the engagement news before Steve proposed.
There’s no ring on it yet, but he told me on the airplane… [the engagement] is coming up,” Vicki said at the time. “I adore that man and I want to spend the rest of my life with him. He calms me. I’m a little emotional. He appreciates me and he doesn’t stifle me. I don’t want a man to tell me what to do. I want to woop it up when I want to woop it up, and I want to work hard when I want to work hard.”
