R. Kelly has been hit with a huge tax bill while he’s still in jail, awaiting a trial.
According to documents obtained by Radar Online, the Internal Revenue Service filed a lien against Kelly earlier this year, saying that he owes them $1,935,034.88 for the year 2008.
The IRS reportedly placed the lien on his former Illinois mansion, but Kelly hasn’t owned that home in years — so they are threatening to take his assets.
But Kelly says he is broke.
Not that Kelly is scared since there isn’t much to go around at the moment. Last year, the alleged sex predator was hit with a separate federal tax lien.

The IRS says Kelly owes $648,998.25 for 2013 and another $1,229,739.18 for 2016. The grand total of the lien came to $1,878,737.43. The lien has yet to be released and the debt remains unpaid.
Last month, Kelly was moved from a detention center in Chicago to New York where he will likely stay ahead of his August federal trial as he dropped to attorneys from his legal team.
