On Tuesday, it was announced that Timbaland and Swizz Beatz sold Verzuz to Triller for an undisclosed amount — but the actor who plays Tariq in Power thinks they both sold out.
“Can’t ever just have something of our own it’s always about the money,” Michael Rainey Jr. wrote. “Cool move but these n*ggas still sellouts.”
“But we own triller,” Swizz responded. “We own everything tell who done that,” Timbaland also responded.
A Triller spokesperson said both would become shareholders in the Triller Network, the parent company for TikTok. Timbaland and Swizz Beatz will share their equity stake with the 43 performers who have appeared on Verzuz.
TEDDY RILEY’S SOUND DURING VERZUZ
“There is no more disruptive and innovative brand in music today than Verzuz,” Triller executive chairman and co-owner Bobby Sarnevesht said in a statement. “We view this acquisition as more of a partnership than an acquisition, as Swizz, Timbaland and the other 43 artists who are all becoming shareholders and partners in Triller Verzuz from this day forward become our voice.”
