Former FLOTUS Michelle Obama hopped on social media to share that she has taken the COVID-19 vaccine — and she wants you to also.
“When you can get the COVID-19 vaccine, I hope you do—Barack and I are certainly glad we did. It’s our best shot at beating this virus, looking out for one another, and getting back to some of the things we miss. Getting vaccinated will save lives—and that life could be yours,” she captioned the post.
The Black and Brown community have been hesitant about getting the vaccine.
Black Americans are receiving covid vaccinations at dramatically lower rates than white Americans. About 3% of Americans received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine in January. But in 16 states that have released data by race, white residents are being vaccinated at significantly higher rates than Black residents.
