The man accused of fatally shooting eight people in Atlanta-area spas was charged with eight counts of murder.

Four of the counts against 21-year-old Robert Aaron Long are related to shootings at two massage parlors in Atlanta. The four others are in connection to shootings at a massage parlor in Cherokee County. He also faces an aggravated assault charge in Cherokee County.

According to MNC News, the victims in Atlanta were Asian women, as were two of the victims in Acworth. The two other victims were white, and a man who was injured was stable.

Long was held without bond and is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday morning.

While many assumed the violence was due to the Asian-hate spread by Trumpers over the coronavirus — officials say it was about Long’s sex addiction.

“He apparently has an issue, what he considers a sex addiction, and sees these locations as a temptation for him that he wanted to eliminate,” said Capt Jay Baker, adding that Long was caught with a 9mm handgun and did not resist arrest.
