A disturbing video was posted on social media showing a man bashing a Brooklyn bicyclist with a baseball bat as the victim lies helplessly on the ground.

Police say that the man wielding the bat is Ashanti Robinson, 46. Ashanti is now facing assault, menacing and weapons possession charges for the apparent attack in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, police said.
Video of the 5:30 p.m. assault shows Robinson repeatedly striking the 54-year-old bicyclist with his bat near the corner of Flatbush and Parkside Aves.

The victim at one point raises his arm to defend himself as Robinson brings the bat down on him, the video shows.
Robinson strikes the victim six times before a witness finally runs up and implores him to stop. He strikes the man two more times as the witness tries to talk him down, the video shows.
