We have sad news to report, Kelis’ husband Mike Mora has passed away, after a yearlong battle with stomach cancer, MTO News has learned.
The news came from close family friend Evan Ross – who broke the news on Instagram.
Evan wrote, “We lost a brother Yesterday. We will truly miss you Mike.”
Diana Ross’ son added, “Thinking of some of the great times we all spent together. You and [a friend] recording me at [Dallas Austin’s] studio in Atlanta.”

“First time I had ever really recording a record in the studio. You made it feel easy and safe. Everything I saw you do. Was built in passion.”
He ended saying, “I loved connecting again with you. Hearing about your children and the life you and your wife have built. Im sending all the prayers and love to your family brother.”
A rep for Kelis confirmed Mora’s death to Entertainment Tonight Monday. “Sadly, it’s true that Mike Mora has passed away,” they said. “We would ask all to respect Kelis and her family’s privacy as of right now.”
Mora’s death comes months after he first shared his diagnosis on social media. In a September 2021 post, the photographer told his Instagram followers he thought he had a stomach ulcer, before being diagnosed with cancer in 2020.
