Kim Kardashian was declared legally single this week, and a statement from Kanye West's reps say that he was not trying to stop it from happening.
"Kanye's paperwork has always indicated that his problems with the divorce were only procedural. Moreover, he was always in support of the divorce only if Kim satisfied the procedural requirements to protect rights under the CA law – the same rights afforded to any litigant going through a divorce," the statement reads. "Today it was determined and addressed in court that Kim initially did not have the proper paperwork to get the bifurcation of the marital status."
Kanye had tried to win Kim back in the public, but his efforts only worked to bring Kim closer to her boyfriend, Pete Davidson.
"West, by his actions, has made it clear that he does not accept that the parties' marital relationship is over," Kim's attorneys wrote in the court filing, adding, "Mr. West has disseminated on social media the parties' private communications and misinformation about personal family matters and co-parenting, which has caused emotional distress. Terminating marital status should help Mr. West to accept that the parties' marital relationship is over and to move forward on a better path which will assist in peacefully co-parenting the parties' children."
