There's a tradition in the hood - to shoot guns in the air to celebrate the New Year. Yesterday, MTO News has learned that a group of gang members shot more than 1,000 machine gun bullets into the air in the projects - to ring in the New Year.

The incident occurred in San Juan, Puerto Rico - and according to social media reports - the gang members doing the shooting have ties to New York City.
In the video, the gang members counted down to the New Year on Instagram Live. Since Puerto Rico is 1 hour ahead of New York City . . . the video was seen at around 11:00 ET.
