Former NFL player Emmanuel Acho has announced that he will be replacing Chris Harrison as the host of The Bachelor.
“IT’S OFFICIAL: I’ve accepted the Rose & am honored to be hosting the @bachelorabc After the Final Rose this year,” he tweeted. “It’s been a pivotal season & this episode will be one of the most storied shows in its history. Empathy is needed and change is coming. See y’all then!”
Harrison stepped away from the show after he tried to excuse racist behavior from one of the show’s contestants, Rachel Kirkconnell. He faced backlash for his interview with Rachel Lindsay, the franchise’s first Black Bachelorette.
Kirkconnell also released a statement: “At one point, I didn’t recognize how offensive and racist my actions were, but that doesn’t excuse them. My age or when it happened does not excuse anything. They are not acceptable or okay in any sense. I was ignorant, but my ignorance was racist.”
