At Sunday’s Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show Eminem was shown taking a knee while on stage at the end of his “Lose Yourself” performance.
Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick was chased out of the league after he took a knee to protest against police brutality and racial discrimination.
Sunday’s performance was the first time hip-hop artists were the leading performers for the halftime show. Rappers Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar and R&B singer Mary J. Blige also performed.
Fans were happy that Eminem would break the rules, but according to ESPN, they knew he would be taking a knee that night.

“We watched all elements of the show during multiple rehearsals this week and were aware that Eminem was going to do that,” league spokesman Brian McCarthy said.
Puck says the NFL was also stressing about the possibility of Snoop’s wardrobe. The outlet says league organizers “also flagged something that Snoop Dogg was set to wear as possibly appearing gang-related.”
