Dogecoin plummeted following Elon Musk’s appearance on Saturday Night Live after he called it a “hustle.”
Some people were confused as to why he was hosting the show in the first place. And after it was over… he probably wished he’d kept his mouth quiet too.
Elon brought his mom Maye on stage “I’m excited for my Mother’s Day gift. I just hope it’s not Dogecoin,” Musk’s mother said.
When asked whether Dogecoin was a hustle, he said, “Yeah, it’s a hustle. To the moon!”
Dogecoin, a cryptocurrency rival to bitcoin which was started as a joke, fell by 35% at one point to reach $0.47 against the dollar, according to news website Coindesk. It slightly recovered to $0.49 but had hit the 70 cent mark before he made the claims on his show.
Musk also claimed to be the first SNL host with Asperger’s syndrome, “or at least the first to admit it.” He’s not the first. Dan Aykroyd, who hosted in 2003, also has Asperger’s syndrome.
