This month marks the 20 year anniversary of iconic pop star Aaliyah’s tragic death, MTO News has learned. On August 25, 2001, the gorgeous singer died in a plane crash in the Bahamas following the video shoot for her song, “Rock the Boat.”
Hip hop mogul Damon Dash, who was Aaliyah’s boyfriend at the time, reveals new information concerning her death, and it’s pretty interesting.
In an interview with ET’s Kevin Frazier, Dame claims that he told Aaliyah not to fly to the Bahamas to shoot a video with director Hype Williams because it was unnecessary. He also said she was skeptical of the small plane booked for her travel and hesitant to use it.
Then Dame dropped a bomb.
He said that Lenny Kravitz sent a plane for Aaliyah, to safely get home from the Bahamas. But according to Dame, Hype Williams took Lenny’s jet for himself and sent Aaliyah on the other plane that crashed.
