After reports surfaced that Britney Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, tried to extort millions from her before his position in her conservatorship end, sources say she’s surprised by his actions.
“She feels he has been taking advantage of her earnings for years,” a source told HL. “Her one saving grace in all this is she will finally have some rights. She has felt suffocated by all the rules and she very ready for change.”
The source added that Britney is “so relieved that she is finally seeing movement.” The source added, “It truly feels there is a light at the end of the tunnel.”
Jamie agreed to step down as co-conservator in August. Jamie has been the one in charge of her conservatorship since the star’s mental health breakdown in 2008.
He said she was “suffering mentally and emotionally, she was also being manipulated by predators and in financial distress,” and that he “came to his daughter’s rescue to protect her.”
