An interracial couple is going viral across social media, after posting pics on Instagram from what appears to be their engagement. And MTO News has learned that social media users are both outraged and disgusted with the couple because the pics have a “slavery” theme to them.
With the rise of social media, more and more couples are posting “theme” engagement photos. The couples dress up according to the theme, and then create an engagement narrative that works within the theme.
One couple created a “slavery” theme engagement. Under the theme, MTO News has observed, the African American groom is a slave who falls in love with his White female slave master. The White woman then frees him from bondage, so that the two can be together.

The couple posted, “1842: Days passed and everything changed, our love got stronger and stronger. He was no longer a slave, he was part of our family.”
The couple then posted a series of pictures, where the groom is in chains – and his blonde wife is standing over him.
