R&B singer/ songwriter Ashanti announced last week that she’s creating a children’s book. That was GREAT news at the time of announcement. Now, MTO News has learned that there’s some controversy surrounding ‘Shanti’s new book.

The singer is being accused of stealing the idea for her children’s book from another author, Jamilah Thompkins-Bigelow.

The author claims that it’s not just the title of the books that are similar – but the entire plot. Jamillah’s book is about a little girl who is upset how other children in her class are unable to pronounce her name.

Here’s how Jamillah’s book is described:

And Ashanti’s book is about . . . well the exact same thing.

And it gets worse. Ashanti’s publisher even had the nerve to suggest you would like Ashanti’s book if you liked Jamilah Thompkins-Bigelow’s book.
