Former American Idol star and country singer, Caleb Kennedy, 17, has been “charged with felony driving under the influence resulting in death.
The teen drove his a 2011 Ford Pickup into a building, killing Larry Duane Parris, 54, who was inside.
The crash happened on Tuesday at approximately 12:41 p.m. on a private road in Spartanburg County.
Kennedy’s first court appearance for the felony charges will be April 14. If he is tried as an adult and convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison.
Kennedy appeared on “Idol” in October 2020 and made it to the top five but had to leave after a picture surfaced of him standing beside someone wearing a Ku Klux Klan hood.
Kennedy’s mother claimed that the video had been taken out of context but Kennedy apologized: “I pray that I can one day regain your trust in who I am and have your respect!”
