Akon’s former business manager is suing him for $4 million.
According to Page Six, Devyne Stephens filed a lawsuit against Akon, saying he screwed him out of $750,000 from a 2018 settlement agreement and $3 million in royalties.
Stephens has previously worked with Destiny’s Child, Usher, Jay-Z, Toni Braxton and TLC. He says he was supposed to receive $3.25 million over four years and Akon did not pay the final installment of $750,000.

Stephens says Akon spent “the better part of a decade” trying to avoid paying him his money. “Akon has spent the better part of a decade frustrating Stephens’ attempts to obtain large amounts of money which Akon unambiguously promised in contracts to pay Stephens,” court docs state.
Stephens also says Akon doesn’t think he should pay the 20 percent because he’s working for another label. Stephens says Akon intentionally breached his contract with Atlantic, and argued that BMG “by any objective metric, is a ‘major’ record label.”
