Barack Obama has tested positive for Covid-19.
“I just tested positive for COVID. I’ve had a scratchy throat for a couple days, but am feeling fine otherwise. Michelle and I are grateful to be vaccinated and boosted, and she has tested negative. It’s a reminder to get vaccinated if you haven’t already, even as cases go down,” he tweeted.

Obama is now the second U.S. President to contract the virus. In October 2020, Donald Trump caught the virus and spent some days in hospital.
“Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!” Trump tweeted at the time. Vaccines were not as widely available then as they are now.
Biden has said that the U.S. is moving towards a a safer phase of the pandemic.
“Thanks to the progress we have made this past year, Covid-19 need no longer control our lives,” Biden said.
