Gillie Da King had a few harsh words for DJ Funkmaster Flex after he crowned Drake as a better rapper than Jay-Z.
“He’s too versatile, his melodies, he has the bars, and he had the songs,” Flex told Gillie and Walo on Million Dollaz Worth of Game. “If those reference tracks had never happened, Drake would have been my favorite artist of all time. […] He would have surpassed Jay-Z in my book. If there was no reference [tracks].”
Gillie did not appreciate Flex’s take. Here’s how he responded:
“So you sittin’ here telling me that an R&B rapper is the greatest f*ckin’ rapper of all time?” Gillie asked. “That’s what the f*ck you said…. Drake is great but the greatest of all time?!”
“You know you can play in a set of 3000 people, you can play 15-20 Drake songs back-to-back tomorrow. I can’t play Jay-Z 20 back-to-back,” Flex said.
