Rapper Young Dro has been sentenced to time in jail for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend during a physical altercation where he reportedly smashed a banana pudding in her face.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Dro pled guilty last week to one count of battery/family violence. The rapper was sentenced to 12 months in jail but was only ordered to serve 70 days. It is also being reported that he was given 20 days for time served.
He will remain on probation for the full 12 months and will have to submit to a drug/alcohol evaluation within 30 days of his release from jail. Dro has also been ordered to undergo domestic violence counseling, and cannot drink or take drugs while on probation.
He'll also have to take random drug tests and forfeit all weapons.
This, unfortunately, is not Dro's first brush with the law. In 2016 he was arrested in Statesboro, GA on several charges including possession of marijuana (less than one ounce), possession of a controlled substance, possession of a weapon in a school safety zone, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Dro though claimed that the gun wasn't his and he falsely took the heat for a friend, now perhaps a former friend. In an interview with The Breakfast Club he said, "That was my partner, but I guess it wasn't for me," Dro told Charlemagne, Angela Yee, and DJ Envy . He said further, "He turned the story around and was like, 'They're just saying the gun is mine because of who Dro is. It's his gun. He has a record.' We cuffed, and I was trying to slide [over], so I could headbutt him."
