Kendrick Lamar’s fiancee is beautiful, successful, and pro-Black.
But folks online are questioning her racial makeup. That’s especially true when she posted this on Instagram. Up until then, people suspected that she was biracial.
Kendrick has been with Whitney Alford for over a decade. They were high school sweethearts, and she even sang the background vocals on his track “King Kunta.”
“I wouldn’t even call her my girl. That’s my best friend. I don’t even like the term that society has put in the world as far as being a companion — she’s somebody I can tell my fears to,” he said of her to Billboard.
In 2015 he spoke of his engagement to her with The Breakfast Club:
“Yeah, definitely. I’m loyal to the soil … At the end of the day, you want to always have real people around you, period. Everybody that’s been around me, they been around me since day one, and I can’t change that. I always show respect when respect has been given. People that been by your side, you’re supposed to honor that.”
She is a licensed esthetician and makeup artist, and many of Kendrick’s trendy braided styles have been down to Whitney. Whitney is obviously light skinned, but some are still questioning her racial identity?
I guess some people don’t know that even a child with two full Black parents can still come out fair skinned, they don’t even have to be biracial. All hues come from us.
