Beyonce and Jay will be performing at the MTV Music Awards later this month in New York City. MTO News has confirmed.
We spoke Exclusively to an insider at MTV - who spilled the tea. According to our snitch, The Carters have been asked to perform at the VMA's later this month. However, Bey and Jay are allegedly refusing to perform unless they are guaranteed a certain number of VMA awards.
We're told that Jay and Bey want the network to give them somewhere between 5 or 6 of the 8 awards that they are nominated for.
A VMA award can typically be bought for as low as $25,000. They allegedly were not willing to pay this. Instead they negotiated a performance deal.
MTO News learned that they're performing Apeshit as well as a "classic" song.
According to Variety, "the Carters received eight, including video of the year, best collaboration and best hip-hop for their eye-popping clip for “Apesh–,” released last month. Other top contenders include Childish Gambino and Drake (with seven nominations each), Bruno Mars (six), Ariana Grande and Camila Cabello (five), and Ed Sheeran, Khalid and Young Thug (four). See the complete list below."
The “VMAs” will air live from Radio City Music Hall on Monday, August 20 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.
“It has already been a monumental year in music, and this year’s ‘VMAs’ will take things to a whole new level,” said Bruce Gillmer, Head of Music and Music Talent, Global Entertainment Group, Viacom. “The extraordinary group of nominees have amazed us with their talent and inspired us with their creativity – and when you get them together for one night, anything is possible.”
