UFC star Conor McGregor has announced his retirement from the sport.

He made the announcement via Twitter:

"Hey guys I've decided to retire from fighting. Thank you all for the amazing memories! What a ride it's been! Here is a picture of myself and my mother in Las Vegas post one of my World title wins! Pick the home of your dreams Mags I love you! Whatever you desire it's yours ❤️" he wrote.

Speaking to ESPN, he says he's become bored of the sport.

"I'm a bit bored of the game," he told ESPN. "I'm here watching the fight. I watched the last show -- the [Tyron-Woodley-Gilbert Burns] show -- I watched the show tonight. I'm just not excited about the game, Ariel. I don't know if it's no crowd. I don't know what it is. There's just no buzz for me."

McGregor also retired back in 2016 before returning to the game. Many fans think they'll see him in the ring again.
