Twitter is divided over a verse Jay-Z spit in which he encouraged the Black community to "gentrify" their own hoods.

Jay-Z held his 'B-Sides 2' at the re-opening of the Webster Hall venue in New York City on Friday night where he brought out former foes Cam’Ron and Nas and during the performance, Jay-Z spit a freestyle where he said the following:

“Gentrify your own hood before these people do it/Claim eminent domain and have your people move in/That’s a small glimpse into what Nipsey was doing/For anybody still confused as to what he was doing/ The neighborhood designed to keep us trapped…”

But some fans didn't appreciate the usage of the word "gentrify" and sparked a debate on Twitter about whether gentrifying our own communities is a good or a bad thing?

Should Jay-Z have used a different word or do y'all think he meant exactly what he said? Let us know.
