Ben Affleck announced that he would not be returning as Batman months ago, but the new word on the street is that Robert Pattinson is in talks with Warner Bros. to replace him.

Pattinson is best known for his role as Edward Cullen in the 'Twilight' film adaptations and is the former fiance of Fka Twigs.

According to Variety, he is the top choice and it’s expected to close shortly. If he does accept the role, Pattinson, 33, would become the second-youngest actor to ever play Batman after Christian Bale, who was 31 when 'Batman Begins' premiered in 2005.

Batman is not an easy character to play, but Pattinson has a formula for mastering his roles.

“When I first started acting,” Pattinson told IndieWire back in April.

“I needed to know the psychological profiles of my characters very, very intimately. And then I realized that as soon as I try and do something where I feel like I’ve got any kind of understanding of it, it’s just a disaster. As soon as I have a set plan, it will just go wrong. Trying to almost purely rely on intuition is better. It’s easier for me to just guess, basically. I used to have scripts which were covered in notes, and now I have nothing. At all. Pretty much ever.”

'The Batman' hits theaters on Jun. 25, 2021.
