R&B singer Chrisette Michelle is separated from her husband Doug Ellison, according to multiple online reports.

Chrisette and Doug were high school sweethearts, and Doug served as Chrisette's manager. But their relationship has been rocky, and it seems like the lovely voiced singer finally had enough.

Two days ago Chrisette Michelle deleted everything from her Instagram account except for a picture of her obviously bare ring finger. She added a caption - where she talked about letting go of the past and being free and independent.

Also Chrisette listed a new manager on her social media pages - and it's not Doug.

Here are the two former lovers:

Chrisette is an R&B and soul singer-songwriter. She won a Grammy Award for Best Urban/Alternative Performance in 2009 for her song "Be OK".

She was previously signed to Motown Records and Caroline/Capitol Records, but was dropped from her label in 2017. In the same year, she announced plans to release new music independently through her own label, Rich Hipster.

In January 2017, media outlets reported that Michelle would perform at the Inauguration of Donald Trump. This was met with backlash on social media.

In response to her performing, Spike Lee removed Michelle's song “Black Girl Magic” from his upcoming Netflix series She’s Gotta Have It. And many of Chrisette's fans boycotted her music. Her career has stalled since then.
