Each year the FBI and various police agencies work to come up with the list of the most DEADLY cities in America. As you can imagine, Detroit, Chicago, and Baltimore all made the list
But what is surprising is just how many of the cities are from the Midwest and the South. The crime statistics that the agency compiled are from US cities with a population over 100,000 between January 2017 to June 2017.
Business Insider reported that, "Among the data was the number of violent crimes committed in these cities, including murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. We then took these violent crime rates per 10,000 people to rank the most violent city in each state.
However, there are multiple cities, sometimes even whole states — such as Texas — that didn't report its data. There are also some states, such as Wyoming, that don't have cities with more than 100,000 people. Therefore the list is not complete."
One of the most surprising findings was that, despite its reputation, Chicago was not the most violent city in Illinois based on the FBI's violent crime rate.
Here is the list:
2. St Louis
3. New Orleans
4. East St Louis
8. Washington DC
9. Little Rock
