If Beale Street Could Talk actress Teyonah Parris has been cast in Disney Plus’ Wanda Vision series.
Parris will play an adult version of Monica Rambeau, a child character introduced in the film Captain Marvel.
She celebrated the news via her Instagram account:
"I mean... I have no words. Still pinching myself to make sure that actually happened. Thank you all for the love. I'm overwhelmed with joy and the honor of breathing further life into "Monica Rambeau." @akira_akbar you're so amazing and you set me up to win, lil mama!! Parris is most recognized for her television roles including, Spike Lee’s Chiraq and Dear White People.
WandaVision follows Wanda Maximoff (played by Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (played by Paul Bettany) and will be set in the 1950s.
“There’s quite a few other comic books that we’re pulling from and it’s going to be Wanda and the Vision, and I think at the Disney Plus launch chat, they showed a photo of us in the ’50s,” Olsen told Variety. “Paul [Bettany] and I are really excited. They have a great group of writers. I think it’s going to be a total of six hours.”
