Tekashi 6ix9ine allegedly faked his kidnapping according to a defense attorney for one of the men accused of kidnapping and robbing him.

"No robbery or kidnapping or assault happened," said Devereaux Cannick, the defense attorney for alleged kidnapper Anthony Ellison said per Page Six. "He was about to drop another album…gotta get that buzz up. That's how he makes money."

Last July, 6ix9ine was reportedly abducted. The rainbow-haired rapper claimed that his kidnappers forced him into a car, assaulted, and him robbed of hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of jewelry from his home.

"They're saying the car [where the kidnapping allegedly occurred] was wired by the government," he explained. "We believe that's going to be very helpful to the defense."

Was it all just a big PR stunt?

6ix9ine's trial is scheduled to begin next month. Reports state that the rapper could be out as soon as January 2020 after snitching on his co-defendants.
