Teen Mom star Amber Portwood spoke out yesterday, for the first time since her life spiraled out of control a few months ago. And the reality star is now openly admitting to suffering from mental health issues.

Amber currently has a pending criminal case. She was arrested this summer on domestic violence-related charges in Indiana. Police charged her with domestic battery; criminal recklessness committed with a deadly weapon; and domestic battery committed in the presence of a child after she allegedly attacked her boyfriend, Andrew Glennon, while he was holding their infant son James.

That's not all. The reality mom is also in the midst of a very bitter custody battle with ex Andrew over their son.

Amber was silent for months - and fans worried that she might be in trouble. Well, yesterday, she decided to speak out - and tell fans of her mental health struggles.

Here's what she said:

Behavior is a choice. But mental health is not a choice. . . .

Like I said, I’ve been going to a psychiatrist for about ten years. I’ve been diagnosed many times hoping to get that cure, as you guys know. But there’s just not one. Yet! Maybe one day.

But Amber fought back, when one fan suggested that the reality star mom was a "sociopath." Amber told the fan:

No, I have not been diagnosed with that. I promise. [laughs] I’ve been ten years going to a psychiatrist. I’ve had about ten to fifteen different psychiatrists, and I’ve never been a sociopath, so it’s not all that true.
