US serviceman Isaiah Towns, 20, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder after he walked in on another soldier allegedly having s*x with his wife.
Police arrested Isaiah shortly after 23-year-old Spc. Shakir Cook-Troynel (above) died from a gunshot wound.
Shakir was a soldier stationed at Fort Carson base, he was originally from Homestead, Florida.
According to the arrest affidavit, Isaiah suspected that his 27-year-old wife was cheating on him, so he went to her home and heard sexual noises coming from the master bedroom.
Isaiah told police that he went to the bedroom and found his wife mostly nude, and Shakir was hiding in the closet with the door open. Shakir was Isaiah's wife babys father.
Isaiah told police he had a pistol and that his intention was to "frighten and intimidate Shakir to get answers."
A struggle ensued for the gun, and Isaiah's pistol shot Shakir in the upper torso. Isaiah then ran outside, tossed the gun toward a dumpster and fled, according to the affidavit.
According to police, Isaiah's wife told him she was filing for divorce just one day before the incident.
According to Army Times, the wife told police she did push Isaiah but wasn’t struggling with him when he shot Shakir.
The wife and Isaiah got married Oct. 5, county records show.
Shakir had been in the Army since May 5, 2015. He came to Fort Carson in February and was assigned to the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division. He was deployed to Afghanistan from May to July.
