Johnny Depp trended on social media on Tuesday after news spread that it was, in fact, Depp who was the victim of domestic abuse and not his ex-wife, Amber Heard.

Heard had previously alleged that Depp had physically assaulted her, but in a recent defamation lawsuit filed by the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star alleged that she had hit him and even provided evidence of his bruised face.

Since the news spread of Depp's receipts, social media fans were remorseful after their prior cancellation of the star. Some apologized for jumping to judgment so quickly while others proclaimed that they will no be canceling Heard.

It appears that the tweets made their way back to Depp and a source close to him gave the following statement to HollywoodLife:

“Johnny is overwhelmed by all the love and support he’s receiving from fans on Twitter. He is finally feeling vindicated after years of looking like the ‘bad guy’ and not believing his side of the story. Johnny never wanted to put Amber in a position to look like the aggressor, but he finally had enough and needed to reveal his truth. The fact that fans are now beginning to believe his account of what happened feels incredible and he’s more determined than ever to continue fighting for justice and redeem his reputation.”
