Sen. Kamala Harris trended online on Tuesday, for claiming that she used to smoke weed in college listening to Snoop Dogg and Tupac - before the rappers ever released any music!
During a recent trip to Charlamagne and the gang at The Breakfast Club, Harris opened up about her marriage, criticism over her blackness, as well as her feelings on marijuana.
However, in a bid to appear relatable to the show's viewership, the Democratic presidential candidate said the following:
“I believe we need to legalize marijuana. We need to move it on the schedule so that we can research the impact of weed based on a developing brain. I am absolutely in favor of legalizing marijuana, we’ve got to do it. We have incarcerated so many — particularly young men and young men of color — in a way that we have not for the same level of use of other young men. And we’ve got to deal with that.”
She was asked if she'd ever smoked weed:
“I have, and I inhaled. It was a long time ago. I think that it gives a lot of people joy, and we need more joy in the world.”
Charlamagne then asked her what she listened to when she hit the blunt, and she replied:
"Oh yeah, definitely, Snoop. Uh huh, Tupac. For sure, for sure" she said, confirming that it was during college.
But an astute listener went away and did the math - and it just didn't add up:
And then the trolling began:
But some viewers think that Harris was being trolled unnecessarily and that she was in fact, answering a more general question about what she listened to in her youth.
So, did she lie or was the interview taken out of context? Let us know.
