The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Garcelle Beauvais headed to the Reality Life with Kate Casey podcast where she opened up about being the first-ever Black cast member on the show.
“Did I feel pressure of being the first Black woman on [RHOBH]? Yes, I definitely felt pressure that people wanted me to come in and do a certain thing or have a chip on my shoulder,” Garcelle said.
She also says she did not want to be portrayed as an angry Black woman.
“I really didn’t want to be labeled an angry black woman. That’s not who I am,” she said. “I just wanted to stay true to who I am, and I think that’s what people have been able to see so far.”
Garcelle has bumped heads with show OG Kyle Richards, but has not come across as angry or aggressive and does get on well with the rest of the ladies on the show.
