Rapper YNW Melly could be facing the death penalty if she is found guilty of the double murder of his former friends.
Back in February, Melly was arrested for the shooting killings of YNW Juvy (Chris Thomas, 20) and YNW Sakchaser (Anthony Williams, 21) which took place in October 2018. Following his arrest, he was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the State of Florida is seeking the death penalty against Melly because they feel they can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the rapper killed his friends for "financial gain" also stating that the murder was especially heinous, atrocious or cruel, and he committed homicide in a cold, calculated and premeditated manner.
Melly publicly mourned the loss of his friends months before his arrest, which is one reason why his fans were extremely shocked when he was later named as a suspect in the murders.
Florida is one of 30 states where capital punishment is legal.
