Rapper Lil Uzi Vert cut off his dread locs last night. The rapper claimed that he cut of his hair as a "sacrifice" to help get his career back on track.
Lil Uzi is one of the most popular artists of the SoundCloud generation, has a cult following and is a proven hitmaker. But it's been almost 2 years since the popular Philadelphia artist last dropped a project - all because of what he describes as "label problems."
More recently, Uzi's troubles have gotten even worse. The rapper claims that his current label is delaying his sophomore LP, Eternal Atake, which he's been teasing since last July.
Uzi explained his dilemma on Instagram a few months ago. He told fans:
“Y'all talking about dropping something? I tried to drop something,” he recently opened up on Instagram Live. “I dropped ‘New Patek’—that sh*t ain't get leaked. I been tryna drop something. Bro, this is my life now. All I can do is make music and sit back and wait for y'all response and make visions to this shit. You think I don't wanna drop music? You just gotta understand—people don't love me."
Uzi is hoping that his hair "sacrifice" will be enough to turn things around for him . . .
According to Complex, "It's a confusing time to be a Lil Uzi Vert fan. To kick off the year, the Philly rapper announced that he was retiring from music after teasing his long-awaited Eternal Atake project. Ever since then, Uzi has been continuing to insist that he's done with rapping for good. He's since made a small number of live appearances, but for the most part he's kept fans in the dark."
