Rapper French Montana is getting DRAGGED on social media – for making an INACCURATE description of the Caribbean nation of Trinidad.
French referred to Trinidad as a “Third World nation.”. And the people of Trinidad are in his comments – setting him STRAIGHT.
The "Unforgettable" rapper was visiting the island for their world-famous carnival when he posted the image of himself at the Piarco International Airport with this extremely offensive caption:
“Immigration waiting for me when I landed in Trinidad. But much love to the beautiful people in Trinidad we had a blast #3rdWorld #Dreamers”
The hashtags sparked outrage amongst the Caribbean community. Here are a few of the comments:
"French Montana calling Trinidad 3rd world is equal to if we called him a B-list entertainer. Shoot your shot."
"First French Montana called Trinidad a 3rd world country ... then he tagged in at Trinidad, Cuba 🤦🏽♀️😂"
"French Montana comes to Trinidad for the Carnival and just taking L after L😭😂😩"
"Really French ??? Dreamers???? You rub one shoulder with Jay Z and Daz ur conduct? F**k you yuh mac******n #dreamdis🖕🏻"
"Tell me why French Montana touch down Trinidad but speaking like a Jamaican 🤔🤔🤔 the Caribbean confusing df outta y’all"
While it's highly unlikely that French Montana intended to cause offense with his posts, no countries would find it a compliment to be referred to as a third world country.
This label is void of any real context as to the history of their economy. Many of them being stripped of their wealth and resources by the Europeans and left to drown.
If he has any sense, he'll release a respectable post, apologizing and he will most likely be forgiven.
