MTO News confirmed with Maryland Police that local D.C. rapper Antonio Lamont Harper Jr., AKA A1 Lil Tony, was shot and killed on May 1.
Police say that A1 Lil Tony was sitting in a parked car in his mother's driveway, when somebody approached and shot him.
Diane Richardson of the sheriff’s office said, “The gunman approached Mr. Harper and shot only him and not the person who was with him.” He was pronounced dead at the scene.
But police think they may have a lead in the case - from A1 Lil Tony's Twitter.
You see, shortly before his death, A1 Lil Tony tweeted, “We going to keep riding around wit dem glocks until we find dem n****s. [sic]”
Police are now looking at the possibility of the tweet being connected to the shooting. But MTO News should point out that those are lyrics to the song “In My Bag” by Atlanta-based rapper Lil Baby.
Currently, the investigation is ongoing, with officials still working to determine the motive. Harper’s aunt, Danielle Wilson, explained that he was a great guy who was passionate about his career, and loved his family immensely. She and the rest of his family don’t know why Harper was targeted, but are focusing on supporting each other at this time.
A local report said, the suspect fled the scene but detectives are on the hunt and are working to determine a motive. Anyone with information on the murder is asked to call Det. C. Shankster at 301-609-6513 or Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.
