'Love & Hip Hop' alum Rah Ali has spoken out for the first time since she lost her baby.
Rah was rushed to the hospital after going into early labor at just five months. She then gave birth before her daughter passed away just minutes later.
“I called my husband, and he rushed home,” she told PEOPLE. “The ambulance came, and they took me to the hospital. That’s when they told me that my cervix was completely open and that my water had broken.
“When you’re pregnant with your first child, it’s a whole mental thing just knowing that you’re going to deliver,” she continued. “Every day you count down and see [your due date] getting closer and closer. At five months, I hadn’t even come to the realization that it was going to happen. It was the worst experience of my life.”
Rah had been keeping her pregnancy under wraps and was preparing to announce the news to the public, before the tragic incident. Her close friends and family have been comforting the heartbroken businesswoman, including her close friend Nicki Minaj.
Rah revealed that she had named her baby girl, Sanaa.
“I held her … and she slept in the room with us until the morning when they took her away. I felt like I lost my soul.”
