Shamed singer R. Kelly is reportedly trying to flee the country to avoid his upcoming child sex abuse trial.
“It’s clear that if he stays in the U.S., he’s doomed. But nobody will give him a cent now,” an insider told RadarOnline.com.
On Thursday, Kelly is expected to plead not guilty to 11 new sex-related charges when he appears in court in Chicago. Kelly pleaded not guilty in February to 10 related counts of aggravated sexual abuse involving three girls and one woman over a period of about ten years starting in the late 90s.
If the judge feels that Kelly is a flight risk, his bond could be revoked and he could be forced to remain behind bars until his upcoming trial.
Weeks back, Kelly filed paperwork in court asking to be allowed to travel to Dubai and India where he’d booked shows, but his requests were denied. Dubai officials also denied that Kelly had been scheduled to perform and meet with their Royal family.
A source in his camp told Radar: “He tried to bamboozle the judge, but he was just trying to use a loophole in an attempt to flee the country.”
