Nick Cannon is swearing off monogamous relationships and has revealed that he will never get married again - or be with just one woman.
Nick and his superstar ex-wife, Mariah Carey, were officially married for a little over eight years after separating in 2014 and then finalizing their divorce in 2016. The couple has two children together.
Nick now divorced explained on T.I.'s new podcast ,ExpediTIously, what he wants from his next relationship:
"I think I'll never be able to be with just one woman again. Like, that's gon' be tough for me. I did it in marriage! I was very faithful in my marriage…the whole time I was married," he said.
"And the reason why we split up- it had nothing to do with infidelity or nothing like that. But I knew I would never get married again. Once I stepped away from that, I knew that construct is not designed for me. So I gave it my all, and even before that I was like, 'I don't believe in marriage.' But, sh*t- it was Mariah Carey! Whatever she say, I'm with it!"
He did say that the only woman he'd consider walking down the aisle with is Mariah:
"Whatever she say, I'm with it! If I' ma marry somebody, I' ma marry her," he quipped.
Nick Cannon is echoing a hot topic and previously taboo subject - monogamy.
Monogamy and people's ability to not only remain faithful within their marriage, but their ability to be happy in a long term monogamous relationship, is increasingly being questioned by society.
In May 2017, the New York Times, in an article broached this subject and explored the concept of an open marriage and its growing popularity as an alternative to divorce and infidelity.
Is Nick Cannon on to something ya'll or is happiness and monogamy within marriage perfectly achievable?
