NASCAR Bans Confederate Flag From ALL Racetracks

Racing giants NASCAR has announced that they are banning the display of Confederate flags on all of their racetracks.

"The presence of the Confederate flag at NASCAR events runs contrary to our commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fans, our competitors and our industry. Bringing people together around a love for racing and the community that it creates is what makes our fans and sport special," NASCAR said in a statement. "The display of the Confederate flag will be prohibited from all NASCAR events and properties."

The issue of the flag was championed by Bubba Wallace, NASCAR's sole Black driver and an Alabama native. According to the Miami Herald, Wallace called for the Confederate flag's banishment and said there was "no place" for it in the sport.

Not everybody is happy about the ban. Some took to Twitter to rant about the banning of the flag which has been adopted by many right-wing hate groups.
