A Booneville, Arkansas town is making NATIONAL NEWS, as a 17-year-old teen who is a ‘football star’ in the town, was caught on video BRUTALLY ASSAULTING an autistic teen.
The football star outweighed the special needs boy – by almost 100 pounds. At the end of the fight, the victim was kicked before losing consciousness.
The video has gone viral, racking up over 500,000 views.
Last year the mother of 13-year-old Cal McFarland filed a lawsuit against a Detroit bus company after he was attacked by a much larger student on the bus. Cal was also autistic and suffered both physical and emotional injury - the bus driver did not inform the parents nor the school about the attack.
There are too many videos circulating the internet of such attacks on children and teenagers with special needs. Children with special needs are way more vulnerable to bullying and are not always able to communicate once an incident has taken place.
What's sad is that without some of these videos going viral, the victim might never see justice. Though it would be more helpful if the people behind the camera put it down and actually tried to stop the assaults or even called for help.
Booneville police said they have the video and are investigating the fight, with charges expected to be laid soon. Police are asking witnesses with any further information to come forward.
