R&B singer Monica and her husband Shannon Brown announced that they were separating two months ago. Since the announcement, there have been tons of rumors - suggesting the couple may be reconciling.
Well Shannon shut down all rumors of reconciliation yesterday.
According to the former NBA baller, he plans on giving away his wedding ring - to one of his Instagram followers.
The baller plans on holding a raffle for the diamond encrusted ring. Look:
The obvious question here is did Monica agree to this because the wedding ring is a marital asset that should be part of the divorce proceeding?
Perhaps its a joke, but even as a joke -it's a pretty insensitive one. Divorce, while necessary in some cases isn't funny. It's the dissolution of a family that sometimes has ripple effects for generations to come. In the event it's not a joke though - you may want to enter the raffle!
Monica has sold 5.3 million albums in the United States and she is recognized as one of the most successful urban R&B female vocalists to emerge in the mid to late 1990s.
According to Billboard, she is the youngest recording act to ever have two consecutive chart-topping hits on the Billboard Top R&B Singles chart, as well as the first artist to top the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart over the span of three consecutive decades (1990s, 2000s, and 2010s).
A four-time nominee, she won a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for "The Boy Is Mine" at the 41st awards ceremony and has been the recipient of one Billboard Music Award, one BET Award, and two BMI Pop Awards.
