A Minnesota police officer killed an unarmed and handcuffed Black man yesterday, by kneeling on his neck and strangling him to death. And the entire incident was captured on video.
According to police, police, officers responded shortly after 8 p.m. yesterday after being called to investigate a man allegedly trying to use forged documents at Cup Foods.
The police apprehended and handcuffed the man, after they claim he was uncooperative. But once they had him under control, one of the officers put his knee on the man's neck for over six minutes, and killed him.
In the nine-minute video, which we have linked to above, an officer can be seen kneeing a man to the pavement at the side of a squad car. The man can be heard groaning and repeatedly telling police he can’t breathe.
“He’s not even resisting arrest right now, bro,” one bystander tells the officer and his partner. “You’re f—ing stopping his breathing right now, you think that’s cool?”
After about five minutes, the man appears to go unconscious. The bystanders ask for someone to check his pulse. The officer does not lift his knee from the man’s neck until medical personnel arrive and carry him away.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey suspended the two officers, and called in the FBI in to investigate the killing.
