Michelle Williams felt she was not getting proper "respect" from her Caucasian fiancé

Michelle Williams decided to call off her engagement with fiancé Chad Johnson, who is White. The two split over what MTO News confirmed was described as "respect issues."

MTO News spoke exclusively to one of Michelle's close friends who tell us that they don't believe that Chad "respected" Michelle the way a husband should. The friend explained, "Chad wouldn't even commit to a wedding date. A lot of stuff he did would show he didn't 'respect' Michelle."

Michelle's friend adds, "Michelle is no dummy, she knows when someone loves and respects her . . . and she knows when someone doesn't."

Chad has been a controversial figure in Michelle's life. Many of the former Destinys Child singer's fans believe that he was looking to come up off of Michelle's name.

Chad was a fixture at red carpet events, and celebrity parties. And it was Chad - we're told - that convinced Michelle to do a show together on OWN.

But this week Michelle ended her engagement, and her relationship with Chad. Here's what she posted online:

Michelle, 38, met Chad, 40, met in March 2017 in Arizona during a spiritual retreat organized by Johnson, who also serves as a life coach. Chad has also worked as a chaplain for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Pittsburgh Steelers among other professional sports teams.

This is the second time Michelle has called off the pair's engagement since Chad popped the question in March of this year.

Michelle told the media that back in October, she secretly ended the relationship over the summer and checking into a treatment facility for severe depression.

“For years I have dedicated myself to increasing awareness of mental health and empowering people to recognize when it’s time to seek help, support and guidance from those that love and care for your wellbeing,” Michelle wrote in statement in July on social media.
